Having played two friendlies earlier in the month, this was a step up for a relatively new Chard side and Taw Valley were quick to take advantage of the home team's slow start.
A series of impressive early goals from the visitors acted as a wake up call for the Chard defence who responded quickly, prompting more aggressive goal-keeping from Anna Dewick and strong clearances by Cassie Newland and Kayley Gollop.
It was clear that Taw Valley were the more experienced of the two sides and, despite a peak in Chard's performance during the middle of the game, the opposition finished with a flurry of goals, securing a convincing win. The final score Chard 0 – Taw Valley 12.
Chard player Lou Wrightson was awarded Player of the Match.
