Chard travelled to Taunton bright and early on Saturday morning hoping to get their first three pointer of the season. Determined for goals, Chard looked to have a dominant attacking team from the off and Lorna Warren hit the post in first couple minutes.

From there, Chard's attacks went from strength to strength and Chard were soon to change the score line when a lovely run from Kerryn Mullis took the ball around 4 Vale players. Despite the best efforts, Mullis found the keeper but the rebound was skillfully picked up by captain Lyndsay Blackshaw who scooped the ball over the keeper into the back of the net.

A strong Vale side however weren't to be thwarted. Several strong attacks kept the Chard defence and keeper on their toes. Vale were soon awarded a short corner however and a ball found a free player on the left post who slotted the ball into the goal.

Chard weren't dismayed and continued to look dominant on the pitch and were again soon to be rewarded when a ball from Rose Trafford found Ruth Butcher top of D who expertly drove the ball into the opposite corner of the goal. Only a few minutes later a drive down midfield, this time from Sasha Taylor on the right again found Butcher top D who placed the ball to Mullis getting the deflection on the post.

Mullis and Butcher were a force to be reckoned with in the attacking half and Chard soon found themselves 4-1 up when Mullis was again denied a goal by the Vale keeper but a rebound was picked up by Butcher and driven through the keeper's legs.

Vale continued to battle hard, always looking dangerous on the pitch with expert defending from Chard's rotating back line of Rose Trafford, EJ Hines, Emma Cridland, Lois Butcher and new girl Jade Dunning keeping them at bay. In the dying minutes of the first half however a strike from top D found the backboard and brought the score to 4-2.

The second half was a much quieter affair and despite battling from both sides, the game finished with the score line of the first half.
