Chard Ladies came out fighting, determined to break their bad run of 2011. Sarah McDermott gave Chard the early lead, whilst solid defensive work kept Burnham at bay. Solid and skilful in defence, Chard Ladies moved the ball around creatively, switching play to create space and time for the midfield and forward line. A second goal from Katy Jones provided new confidence before the half time whistle.
Chard Ladies seemed to lose their way a little at the start of the second half, slowing the play and allowing Burnham to put pressure on defence to win a number of short corners. After an impressive clearance off the back line by Chandra Bidgood and saves by goalie Anna Dewick, Chard soon regained their composure. Good communication throughout the second half ensured Chard's game went from strength to strength. Not seeming to tire, the attack ran down every ball; their determination and strong passing play paying off, with three further goals from Player of the Match, Natalie Wainwright.
