The ladies 1XI travelled to Bridgwater this weekend for their first match of the season. With fresh faces in Jess Withers, Charlotte Mooney and Tess Down joining the team the girls knew they had to familiarise themselves as a team.

Chard attacked from the off with strikers Lyndsay Blackshaw and Charlotte Mooney bombarding the Bridgwater keeper. Unfortunately Chard were better at finding the keepers pads than the backboard as they struggled to make a dent in the score line approaching half time.

The second half started again with a 0-0 goal line and Chard seemed to struggle to stay on their feet. This did give benefit to midfielder Rachel Ireland-Jones who managed to score across goal and fall over in unison!

Blackshaw was quick to add a second to Chard's scoresheet after some nice passing in the Bridgwater D.

Bridgwater pushed for a goal with several attacks in the closing stages of the game; however, Chard's defence remained strong with beautiful tackles from Joint Ladies of the Match Mischa Taylor and Down.
