It wasn't only birthdays that Chard ladies were celebrating yesterday as they continued their winning streak beating White Eagles 2-1 in their first league match of the season. From the starting whistle the game was fast paced, of high intensity and strong standards. Chard were looking confident and positive though, staying calm and passing the ball around a strong White Eagles team.

Chard were first to make their mark on the game as after several attacks on goal Kerry Arnold added to her birthday celebrations as she skilfully swept the ball past White Eagles' keeper. Not long after Amy Goss managed to secure Chard's lead as she also slotted the ball into the goal; a deserving reward for her game-making runs down the wing.

White Eagles didn't give up and after several strong attempts on goal managed to lessen the goal difference with a well executed long corner play. With only ten minutes left on the clock Chard's opposition started to look dangerous and tuned up the heat. However Chard's strong defensive line managed to hold them off, despite several short corners in the dying minutes. Special mention has to go to player of the match Lou Wrightson who kept Chard in the game as our central defender.
