The wintery weather during the latter half of last week meant all three home games due to be played on Saturday 11th January at Holyrood Academy were postponed, the pitch being snowbound and frozen. Chard Ladies' 1s were due to play Exeter 6s, Chard Men's 3s and Sidmouth & Ottery 4s were making their second attempt to play a fixture postponed from 7th December when storms disrupted the league programme and Men's 2s were due to play high flying Tiverton White Eagles. To complete the set, Chard Men's 1s trip to Firebrands 2s was also cancelled, again the second time this fixture has been postponed. All the postponed home fixtures are now scheduled to be played on 22nd February.
The scheduled winter break began for all teams following the games on 14th December. The only Chard side which has seen action so far in 2025 has been the Ladies' 2s away to Sidmouth & Ottery 3s on 4th January. Weather permitting, they will be in action again at home to Exeter & Culm Vale Hornets 2s next Saturday while the Ladies' 1s travel to Exeter University.
For the Men's sides, next Saturday sees Men's 1s entertain Isca 4s, while Men's 2s are away to Yeovil 3s and Men's 3s have a trip to Plymouth to play Ocean City 4s.
At the midpoint of the season, the league tables show Ladies' 1s third with 18 points and Ladies' 2s ninth both in Sedgemoor Division 2. Men's 1s have battled back from a poor start to the season and currently sit eighth out of twelve teams in Central Division 2 with 14 points from ten games and men's 2s occupy the same position in Parrett Division 1 out of twelve teams with 13 points from ten. Meanwhile Chard 3s are in top spot in Riviera Division 2 with 16 points from seven matches. Second placed Taunton Vale 5s have 13 points but have played two games more.
