Ashmoor B 1 Chard B 1

Ashmoor and Chard were sitting in first and second place respectively in the league so Chard knew they were in for a quick game compared to previoius weeks. Playing a very youthful team Chard started brightly with some good interplay in the midfield through Max Beal and Toby Squire, however the home side gradually exterted their physical advantage and had the visitors on the back foot for large parts of the half, at one time Chard were pinned in their D as Ashmoor were awarded a series of penalty corners, stout defensive tackling from George Grossy and Kevin Mooney and solid goolkeeping from veteran Grahame Johnson kept the ball out. Chard evetually nicked a goal when Tom Telford was realeased, the evetual ball finding Alan Cheffey in space to score. Ashmoor managed to squeeze a goal in the dying minutes of the half to bring it all square. The second half had Ashmoor controlling the midfield and Chard relying on breaks, man of the match Kyle Wheaton played exceptionally in defence to quickly break down the attacks and set up his brother Murray to counter attack, Bertie Squire playing an important role in keeping the momentum high. As the game went on Chard were in the asecendancy and narrowly failed to score on a numnber of occasions, the last hit of the game from Cheffey brushed the woodwork and meant the teams ended the game honours even.
