Minehead B 5 Chard B 3

Playing in bitterly cold weather the Chard ten men could not compete in the end against a much stronger team that seems to significantly change dependant upon the fixture when playing Chard.

The home side started briskly as Chards team was learning how to adapt to the missing player which had them on the back foot, Minehead eventually scoring from a penalty corner, Chard struck back immediately when the scored through Alec Evans who was found in space and his pin point shot found its way into the far bottom corner. The game pin-balled either end and goals were exchanged before half time with Steve Dare converting two drag flicks into the roof of the net, which brought the game even at half time 3-3.
The second belonged to Minehead who had a lot more legs in mid-field and the Chard team were struggling more against the cold and their lack of numbers which was further as they had Chard lose three players through the game. Minehead converted two more goals the best a reverse stick effort which brought the home side a deserved win, however if this was the normal performance of the team they would not be staring relegation in the eyes. good performance from Chards younger players despite the bitter weather goes to Alec Evans, KC Hubbard, Riley Millet and Barney Cooper.
