Chard managed another impressive display at home to win the derby against Taunton Vale. Chard had the better of the earlier exchanges with them finding space in the final third but any attempts were either well dealt with by the visitors keeper or last minute lack of control. Taunton slowly came into the game and created some trouble for the defence of Chard who held up resolutely with Riley Millet and George Bromfield both performing well, however the pressure eventually told as Vale scored an optimistic goal. Chard did not seem to have the where for all to beak through the experienced Vale back line but it came when Ryan Lewis who weaved his way through the defence and his shot was going towards the goal and James Float made sure of the equaliser just before half-time. As the second half went on Vale older team seemed to be slowing down but Chards youth were more energetic but lacked the precision to get past the defence, the winning goal coming from a penalty corner which Rollo Squire scored into the corner. The win ensures Chard to finish in the upper half of the table, which when playing most games with a contingent of youth is a great achievement.
