The final scoreline denotes a close game at at times it was with Chard defending well and catching the home side on the break. Chard started extremely well with a free hit on the top of the D falling to an unmarked Duncan Lewis who scored in the first 5 minutes. This awoke the Sidmouth & Ottery who had a lot of possession and bad marking allowed their centre forward an easy shot at gal, Chard did not lie down and restored their lead when a superb lay-off by Rollo Squire found Richard Jones who ambled his way to the D and scored in the bottom corner. The ever increasing pressure the home-side made was eventually rewarded with goal before half-time.

The second half was much the same, Ottery & Sidmouth dominating the mid-field but could not find a way to have a clear shot, great energy by James Float in breaking down the advances assisted, however a deflection let a home forward in who slotted home. Sidmouth continued their push for another goal which opened up spaces down the wings, Durgan Cooper having some good runs, one resulting in a penalty corner, his nudge towards the goal hit a foot and Lewis converted the resulting penalty flick, shortly afterwards from another penalty corner the impressive George Bromfield was upended and another flick was despatched. Despite Chards best efforts in parking the bus Sidmouth & Ottery eventually found their way through to earn a deserved draw.
