Chard secured their second victory of the season against a young Sidmouth team who were very mobile in the midfield leaving their older opponents at times missing tackles., however the experience Of Trevor Goss and Steve Dare in defence kept the chances throughout the game to a minimum. The first half opened with Chard in the agency as they managed to press high up the pitch and created some half chances, one such resulted in a penalty corner that Duncan Lewis scored, other chances fell to the Chard young forwards Rollo Squires and George Bromfield but they could not get their shots off, As the half went on the home side were better at counter-attacking down the right side and had some half chance but Kacey Hibbard in goal countered their efforts. The second half was as much the same as the first with Chard creating more of the positive moves and defending against the home sides advances, runs by John Reader and Alan Cheffey opened up their defence but they did not despatch their shots quick enough, with such pressure eventually mistakes occurred and a penalty corner was scored by Richard Jones who latched onto a cross by Ed Cockburn.
